Just as the nine forms of Matarani (मातारानी) are prevalent, similarly the (दस महाविद्या) 10 Mahavidya of goddess shakti are also famous, which are worshipped during Gupta Navratri (गुप्त नवरात्र). These Das Mahavidya were revealed by Mata Sati (माता सती) to show her influence to Lord Shiva, who appeared in different times for different purposes. The whole universe get energy from these Mahavidya and the powers to the gods and goddesses are also vested in them. Mata Kali (काली) is the first goddess among the 10 Mahavidyas. According to the Maha Bhagwat (महाभागवत), Mahakali (महाकाली) is the main one and there are ten Mahavidyas taking many forms in his two forms, fierce and gentle. Vidyapati (विद्यापति), the powers of Lord Shiva, the Mahavidyas are capable of providing infinite siddhis (सिद्धियाँ).
The ten Mahavidyas are the ten forms of Goddess Durga (देवी दुर्गा). The ten main forms of Mahadev and Mool Shakti are described in the scriptures (शास्त्रों) and Puranas (पुराणों). Out of 10 Mahavidyas, seven Mahavidyas are situated at different places in Datia (दतिया). The temple of six Mahavidyas is in Datia city and the temple of seventh Mahavidya is in Barauni town (बड़ौनी कस्बे). They are related to the ten avatar of Lord Vishnu (विष्णु के दस अवतारों). For example, Lord Shri Ram is considered to be an incarnation of Tara and Shri Krishna is considered to be an incarnation of Kali. It is believed that it fulfills the wishes of its devotees immediately. Let us know about the ten Rudravatars of Lord Shiva who are related to these 10 Mahavidyas of the Goddess shakti with name, photos, temple and stotra list.
